ROHTAK: The police have booked a senior doctor of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, for manhandling the vice-chancellor (V-C) of University of Health Sciences (UHS) in the presence of patients at the hospital premises.
Dr Bi jen de rD hill on, the no dal officer of the labour room, allegedly misbehaved with V-C OP Kalra when the latter had come for inspection of thegy na ecology ward on Monday.
Nor ab ly, Dr D hill on was charge sheeted by hospital authorities for lapses in connection with the disappearance of a newborn baby from the ward recently and could have faced action in this regard.
The director of the institute recently resigned over the incident.
A security guard, who lodged a complaint on Dr Kalra’s behalf, stated that Dr Dhillon shouted at Dr K al ra, asking him to follow the protocol of wearing a gown and removing shoes before entering the labour ward. He then pulled Dr Kalra to the attendant’s room and again shouted at him for not constructing separate toilets for attendants.
“He accused Dr K al ra for using public money to build luxuries at his own house while not spending funds in the hospital. Even when Dr Kalra left, he kept speaking ill of him before the public,” the security guard stated.
Dr Kalra said that Dr Dhillon caught him by his arm and pushed him in full public view.
“He also tried to instigate the public by making false allega- tions against me. Further, we were on official round and he obstructed public servants from doing their duty,” he said.
Based on the complaint, the police have booked Dr Dhillon under section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public work) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Dr Dhillon, however, refuted all the charges and said he was only reminding the VC of the protocol and raised pending issues.
