‘Govt to procure every grain of bajra’

HEALTH MINISTER ANIL VIJ SAYS THE GOVT HAS APPROVED CONCEPT PLAN FOR MEDICAL COLLEGE IN JIND

CHANDIGARH: Agricultur­e minister O PD han karon Monday said the state government would pro cure every single grain of bajra in the state.

Replying to a question raised by opposition leader Abhay Chautala during the question hour, he said 19,656 metric tonnes (MT) of ba jr a had so far been procured during the current procuremen­t season against 6,300 MT procured last year.

D hank ar claimed that the state government had in the last three years worked better than other states for farmer’s welfare.

As compared to 10 years’ tenure of Congress and five-and-ahalf-years tenure of INLD, the BJP government had taken better decisions for farmers in its three-year tenure, he said.

‘FARMERS PAID ₹1 KCR’

Minister of state for cooperatio­n Ma ni sh Kumar Grover said from 2007 onwards, about ₹1,600 crore was paid to farmers by cooperativ­e sugar mills in the state for buying cane, out of which ₹1,088 cr ore was paid by the present government during its last threeyear tenure.

Replying to a question, he said under the leadership of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the present government is working to ensure welfare of the farming community and the sugar mills in the state had been started 15 to 20 days earlier.

APPOINTMEN­T LETTERS ISSUED TO 554 DOCS

State health minister Anil Vij said appointmen­t letters have already been issued to newly recruited 554 doctors and they would soon join their duties.

Rep lying to a question, Vij said foundation stone of medical college in Jind town was laid in September 2016. The concept plan for establishm­ent of medical college at J ind had been approved by the government, he said, adding that the government has also notified a high-powered committee for seeking the project implementa­tion agency for the project.
