EXCHIEF KHALSA DIWAN HEAD WAS BLACKMAILED OVER CLIP

-

AMRITSAR: Former Chief Khalsa Diwan president Charanjit Singh Chadha was blackmailed over the objectionable video clip in which he is seen with a woman principal.

Chadha had claimed this in a complaint lodged with the Jalandhar police in September. Chadha, however, in a press conference in Amritsar denied his being in the video when it surfaced recently, claiming it was doctored.

On Chadha’s complaint, the Jalandhar police on September 26 had lodged a case under Sections 384 (punishment for extortion) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On November 30, they arrested Sukhdev Singh and Davinder Sood, both of Amritsar, who were sent to jail after they were produced in a court. Sources said Sukhdev and Davinder came out of jail on December 27 and the video went viral on on social media the same day.

In his complaint Chadha said he received a phone call from someone claiming to be a mediaperson from Chandigarh on September 25.

“The man said he had a video clip which was recorded in my office and he wanted to meet me in this regard. The same person had also called me two months back and told me that the video clip was given to him by two women. On September 26, he said I can get the video from his man was in Amritsar after giving him money. He threatened to circulate the video if i didn’t give them the money,” he had said in his complaint.

Sources said Chadha had already given ₹60,000 each twice to the alleged extorters.
