Gangster Manjinder Singh sent to police remand till Jan 4

PATIALA:A local court on Sunday sent Manjinder Singh, one of the main conspirato­rs of in the famous Nabha jail break case, to police remand till January 4.

Manjinder was produced in the court of chief judicial magistrate amid high security arrangemen­ts on Sunday afternoon. A dismissed Punjab Police constable, he wasarreste­don Saturday from Jan dial a Guru in Amritsar district after police zeroed in on his name after the arrest of Ind erjeet Sing hS andhu,a key aide of gangster Harjinder Singh alias Vic ky Go under, on December 13.

Police said Manjinder was in touch with a man who provided all logistics, including police uniforms, turbans to the attackers to gain entry into the jail. A senior policeoffi­cial said more informa- tion will be procured regarding the whereabout­s of Go under and Prema Lahoriya, who is the key planner of jail break. Manjinder isa close relative of L ah oriya and also looked after his land at G ha rinda village. Lahoriya is wanted for gangster Sukha Kahlwan murder besides the jailbreak.

A case was lodged against Manjinder under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 392 (robbery), 223 (escape from custody due to negligence by public servant),120 B (criminal conspiracy), 148(rioting)and 149(unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed with a common object) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act . Police have arrested four of the six people, who had escaped from the Nabha jail on November 27. Gounder and Kashmir a Sing hG al wadi are still at large.
