Teacher killed, five students hurt as bus collides with truck

JALANDHAR: A teacher of government school was killed and five students sustained minor injuries after a PRTC bus collided with a truck on NH-1 in Goraya on Tuesday morning.

Police said G ur char an Singh, a teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, To ran, in Sangrur district, died on the spot while five students were admitted to the civil hospital.

Fifty students and three teachers of the school were on their way to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, for an educationa­l trip. Police said when their bus reached Goraya around 9.15 am, it collided with a stationary truck (PB-11-BU-8707). The bus driver could not spot the truck due to dense fog.

Truck driver Sher Singh was booked under the Section of 283 (danger or obstructio­n in public way), 304A (Causing death by negligence), 427 (mischief causing damage to theamount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Pen al Code.
