Politician­s make a beeline to rape victim’s village

KURUKSHETR­A: Four days after the body of 15-year-old girl was recovered from Bud hakh era village of Jind, politician­s on Tuesday made a beeline to call on the family members of the victim in Jhansa village of Kurukshetr­a district.

Opposition leaders slammed the BJP government in the state for its failure to ensure the safety and security of the women.

Former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hoo dam et the family members and demanded a CBI investigat­ion into the case and also announced to give ₹1-lakh compensati­on to the aggrieved family.

Former Union minister and Congress’ Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja alleged that the Khattar government in the state has failed on all front sand Haryan a has emerged as a crime capital of the country .“After reaching here, I came to know that there was nothing being done by the police to provide justice to the family,” she added.

She also demanded that the CM re sign from his post on moral grounds and the government be held responsibl­e for such crimes as the police did not take the complaints of the family members seriously. “Three rapes taking place in Haryana every day and there is nobody to listen to the problems of poor. Even the IAS officers are not safe”, she said adding that the women wing of the Congress will meet Haryana governor to ensure strict action against the accused. She also demanded action against the erring police officers.

Similarly, local BJP MP Rajkumar Saini demanded that the case be taken up in a fast-track manner to provide justice to the girl. “The police should have re acted immediatel­y and the matter should be investigat­ed on priority basis ,” he said. He also demanded maximum punishment for the accused.

Other leaders, including BJP M LA Sub hash Sud ha and former Congress MLA Anil Dhantori also called on the victim’s family.

POLICE CLUE LESS ABOUT MAIN SUSPECT

However, the police were still clueless about the whereabout­s of Class 12 student, who was considered as the main suspect in the case.

“Investigat­ions are on but there is no clue about the youth yet,” Kurukshetr­a DSP Dheeraj Singh said.
