New vicechancellors for Jammu, Srinagar varsities
JAMMU : Talat Ahmed and Manoj Dhar were on Wednesday appointed the vice-chancellors of the Kashmir and Jammu universities, respectively, by governor NN Vohra, who is also the chancellor of state varsities. Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, a genetic scientist, will replace present incumbent Prof Ramji Dass Sharma, whose term ended on March 12. He is presently professor at Bioinformatics Centre of varsity.

JAMMU:Talat Ahmed and Manoj Dhar were on Wednesday appointed the vice-chancellors (V-Cs) of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities respectively by governor NN Vohra, who is also the chancellor of the state varsities.
Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar, a genetic scientist, will replace present incumbent Prof Ramji Dass Sharma, whose term ceased on March 12.
Professor Dhar was presently professor and coordinator of the Bioinformatics Centre at the varsity.
He has served on several key positions in the University of Jammu.
He has also served as registrar of the varsity from 2013 to 2015, prior to his stint as Controller of Examination from 2012 to 2013.
Born in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on November 17, 1964, Dhar did his schooling and graduation from Baramulla and then completed his post graduation from University of Kashmir in 1986.
He did his MPhil in 1987-88 and PhD in 1988-1992 from the University of Jammu.
Sources in the University of Kashmir said professor Talat Ahmad, presently vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Kashmir University, replacing professor Khurshid Andrabi whose term of office ended in October 2017.
An earth scientist, professor Ahmad also served as the V-C of Kashmir University from 20122014, before taking over his assignment in Jamia Millia Islamia.
