3 held for trans­port­ing bulls to slaugh­ter house

BATHINDA: A lo­cal court, on Satur­day, re­manded three res­i­dents of Ut­tar Pradesh to one-day po­lice cus­tody for al­legedly trans­port­ing 13 bulls to a slaugh­ter house in Ut­tar Pradesh. The ar­rests were made when the cattle were be­ing smug­gled in a truck with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber UP 15X 3486 on the Bathinda-Mal­out road on Fri­day. The ac­cused have been iden­ti­fied as Ah­mad, Furqan and Kalwa. In­ves­ti­ga­tion of­fi­cer, ASI Karamjit Singh, said a Moga res­i­dent had tipped them off about the bulls be­ing smug­gled. A case un­der the Pre­ven­tion of Cru­elty to An­i­mal Act, 1960, and The Pun­jab Pro­hi­bi­tion of Cow Slaugh­ter Act has been reg­is­tered against the ac­cused.
