3 held for transporting bulls to slaughter house
BATHINDA: A local court, on Saturday, remanded three residents of Uttar Pradesh to one-day police custody for allegedly transporting 13 bulls to a slaughter house in Uttar Pradesh. The arrests were made when the cattle were being smuggled in a truck with registration number UP 15X 3486 on the Bathinda-Malout road on Friday. The accused have been identified as Ahmad, Furqan and Kalwa. Investigation officer, ASI Karamjit Singh, said a Moga resident had tipped them off about the bulls being smuggled. A case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960, and The Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act has been registered against the accused.
