Hindustan Times (Amritsar) - - Punjab & Haryana -

KARNAL: A day after a 63-year-old industrialist, Pramod Gupta, was shot dead at his dyeing plant in Panipat, the police on Saturday said the accused had earlier given fake identity to them.

They said the accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar and Neeraj Kumar of Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh and they were living on a rented accommodation in Krishna Colony of Panipat.

Earlier, the accused had told their names to the police as Suraj and Kamal, residents of Shahjahanpur of Uttar Pradesh.

Panipat DSP (headquarters) Jagdeep Doon said that one of the accused Ravi is an ex-worker of the factory of the deceased and he had left the job two months ago.

He said that the reason behind the murder could not be ascertained yet but in the preliminary investigations, it was found that the accused had the information that the deceased Pramod Gupta was distributing the salary of employees and they could have come with the intention to loot.

He said the police produced the accused in a local court on Saturday, which sent them on four-day police remand. HTC
