SAD, AAP leaders to attend ‘Panthic assembly’
AMRITSAR: Along with other prominent Sikh personalities from all walks of life, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders will also attend ‘Panthic assembly’ to be convened on October 20 and 21 at Grand Celebration Palace in Amritsar to address the issue of Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege, said conveners of the assembly.
Former Takht Damdama Sahib jathedar Giani Kewal Singh, SGPC member Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh, Akal Purakh ki Fauj president advocate Jaswinder Singh held a meeting to finalise the arrangements for the assembly, aimed at democratising the Sikh institutions such as the Akal Takht and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
In a press release issued here on Thursday, it was stated that Bibi Kiranjot Singh Kaur and Karnail Singh Panjoli, SGPC members associated to the SAD, and AAP leader HS Phoolka who recently resigned as MLA, would attend the assembly. Former Punjab assembly speaker Bir Davinder Singh, Punjab and Haryana high court lawyer Navkiran Singh, Sant Samaj leader Baba Sarabjot Singh Bedi, SGPC member Kuldeep Kaur Tohra, and retired DGP of West Bengal Bhupinder Singh, will also attend the assembly.
