UP VANDALISING HISTORY

-

It is disheartening to read about the Uttar Pradeh government’s decision to change the name of ‘Allahabad’, a city of great historical, religious and cultural significance. This is sheer wastage of public money and serves no purpose. It seems that chief minister Yogi Adityanath does not even have the slightest idea of what his government’s first order of business should be. Such cosmetic name-changing of places and towns is filled with bigoted symbolism, just to undermine a particular community. The UP government is vandalising both religion and history with its arbitrary use of state power. Harmanjeet Singh Sidhu,
