BE WISE, CURB NOISE POLLUTION
The Punjab and Haryana high court’s decision to fix timings for fireworks on Dussehra, Diwali and Gurpurb is praiseworthy. Implementation is the key. We also need to curb the noise pollution that religious and other processions cause. People’s mindset of showing-off religious beliefs will take time to change. Surely, parents and teachers can expedite this longdrawn process by setting both an example and a precept for their children. Authorities must take suo motu cognisance of this public nuisance.
