Bear at­tack leaves woman crit­i­cally in­jured in Dharamshala

DHARAMSHALA : A woman was mauled by a black bear in Khani­yara ward of Dharamshala town on Fri­day, leav­ing her crit­i­cally in­jured.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Sanju Devi a res­i­dent of Khani­yara ward.

The in­ci­dent took place on Thurs­day when the vic­tim had gone to a nearby for­est to graze her goats. On hear­ing her cries, the vil­lagers rushed to the spot and scared the bear away.

The in­jured woman was rushed to Dharamshala zonal hos­pi­tal and was later shifted to Dr Ra­jn­dera Prasad Gov­ern­ment Med­i­cal Col­lege, Tanda where her con­di­tion is said to be crit­i­cal.

It is the sec­ond bear at­tack in the area in a month.

On Novem­ber 2, a bear had at­tacked a woman in Boh area of Shah­pur sub-divi­sion of the district.
