ROHTAK : Five people were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Rewari on late Friday evening. The Swift car was the part of a wedding procession going headed to Gokalgadh village of Rewari district.

Among the deceased were the father of the groom, identified as Rajendra Saini, three kids and another man. Two others were critically injured and were taken to a hospital. The deceased and injured belonged to Beri in Jhajjar, from where they were going to Rewari for the wedding.

When they reached near the Gangayacha toll plaza on NH-71, they allegedly got the lane wrong and collided with a truck that was coming from the opposite direction. The toll plaza workers alleged the Swift car was speeding, though police said they were investigating the case.

The toll staff and other passersby broke open the car windows to pull out the injured and rushed them to the trauma centre in Rewari, where five people were declared dead.
