200kg poppy husk seized in Ambala

AMBALA: The crime in­ves­ti­ga­tion agency (CIA) wing of Ambala po­lice has busted a racket of poppy husk smug­glers on Satur­day and re­cov­ered 2.2 quin­tal con­tra­band from a room built in a field at Manglai vil­lage in the district.

CIA sub-in­spec­tor Ji­ten­der said that the po­lice made the re­cov­ery fol­low­ing a tip-off and de­tained one per­son in this con­nec­tion.

“The field is owned by Vi­jay Ku­mar of Khudda Kalan vil­lage in the district. He along with Ma­hen­der of Sm­ladi vil­lage have been in­dulging in il­le­gal busi­ness of poppy husk,” he added.

The po­lice have de­tained one per­son from the spot, whose name has been with­held. A case has been reg­is­tered against Vi­jay Ku­mar, Ma­hen­der and an un­named per­son un­der the NDPS, Act. HTC
