200kg poppy husk seized in Ambala

AMBALA: The crime investigat­ion agency (CIA) wing of Ambala police has busted a racket of poppy husk smugglers on Saturday and recovered 2.2 quintal contraband from a room built in a field at Manglai village in the district.

CIA sub-inspector Jitender said that the police made the recovery following a tip-off and detained one person in this connection.

“The field is owned by Vijay Kumar of Khudda Kalan village in the district. He along with Mahender of Smladi village have been indulging in illegal business of poppy husk,” he added.

The police have detained one person from the spot, whose name has been withheld. A case has been registered against Vijay Kumar, Mahender and an unnamed person under the NDPS, Act. HTC
