People will elect me for my dedication

-

What were the high points of your five-year term?

Only a few MPs, perhaps none, distributed the MPLAD fund as transparently earlier as I have done in my constituency. The entire amount of ₹25 crore stands distributed. If you visit Fatehgarh Korotana village in Moga, which I adopted as MP, you will see how well the funds have been utilised. School education and healthcare have been my priorities.

One thing you wished to do as an MP, but couldn’t? Why?

I wanted to adopt two more villages, but could not because of the vicious political interference and lethargic attitude of the state administrative machinery.

Why should the people re-elect you?

I wish the people elect their representative (in Lok Sabha) on the basis of his or her transparency and dedication.

How was your experience in Parliament?

Parliament is a political workshop of those who have the majority. The legislations passed there protect their interests, but usually ignore the welfare of a majority of common people who form the nation as a whole.

Have you ever wished to sit in the Punjab assembly and work as part of the state government?

As it has national stature and its member can participate in vast and larger deliberations, I wish to return to the Lok Sabha. If my party assigns me some other duty, I will do it willingly.

What will be the impact of the breakaway faction on AAP’s poll performance?

They (rebels) are party-less individuals having no constitutional recognition. They will gradually fade away.
