Remove Safidon police station from fort in 3 weeks: HC

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court (HC) on Monday directed the Haryana government to get Safidon fort vacated from occupation of Safidon police station within three weeks. The HC bench also directed the state government to file a detailed affidavit within three weeks describing the outcome of survey of various ancient buildings conducted by its archaeological department for declaring those as protected monuments.

The court also asked the government to present a complete roadmap for conducting survey of remaining buildings. The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by Yashpal Ghulia seeking preservation of historically important sites.
