Saudi prince likely to stay at PM’s residence during Pak trip
ISLAMABAD : Saudi crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman will visit Pakistan on Saturday for a twoday trip, accompanied by a large number of businessman and high-ranking officials.
Officials have hinted he may be staying at Prime Minister Imran Khan’s residence for security reasons. Local media reported on Monday that the security team of the crown prince has already arrived in Islamabad prior to his visit. The Saudi officials visited different places in the capital and reviewed security arrangements.
A record investment package is being prepared by Saudi Arabia for Pakistan. This includes a reported $10 billion refinery and oil complex in the strategic Gwadar Port.
The Saudi investments will provide a welcome relief for the cash-strapped country which is seeking a bailout from the International Monetary Fund. On Monday, finance minister Asad Umar said Pakistan is likely to secure the IMF bailout, a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan met IMF chief Christine Lagarde in Dubai.
A team of the crown prince's personal doctors and a delegation of Saudi media persons have arrived for the coverage of the visit.
