OP Chautala open to alliance with saffron party

KARNAL : Jailed Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo OP Chautala on Tuesday said he would break open the jail if need be to remain with his supporters during the elections.

“Though, I want to meet every single worker of the party, I have very limited time of 21 days. But I promise you that whenever the polls will be announced, I would do anything, even will break the jail to remain between you during the polls,” said Chautala, who is out on a furlough from Tihar jail, where he is serving a ten-year sentence in the JBT recruitmen­t scam, during a public meeting in Kaithal.

Chautala, who is holding district-level meetings of his workers in Kaithal and Karnal, also hinted at possibilit­ies that the INLD may form an alliance with the ruling BJP.

“We had an alliance with the BJP in the past and the INLD had also supported the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government,” he said, when asked whether the INLD may form an alliance with the BJP.

refused to comment when asked whether he would consider Jannayak Janta Party, formed by his grandson Dushyant Chautala. “We are focusing on how to improve the image of our party and don’t think about other parties.”

“The results of one election cannot decide the future of a party,” he said when asked about the humiliatin­g defeat of the INLD in Jind bypoll.
