OP DHANKAR, agriculture minister

JHAJJAR : Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda’s attempt of taking credit for bringing the largest cancer hospital in his Lok Sabha constituency Jhajjar was marred by state agriculture minister OP Dhankar during the inauguration ceremony of AIIMS’ National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Badsa village on Tuesday.

Deepender, who was invited to the programme where Union minister of health JP Nadda was the chief guest, stated in his address that the hospital was his dream project that he had sought from then prime minister Manmohan Singh 10 years ago.

Though the MP thanked health minister Nadda for taking personal interest in it and speeding up the process in the last three years, he criticised the government for letting it hang in balance initially.

He said he was happy for the inauguration of this project, but maintained the government was yet to start any work in the remaining 10 of his “dream projects” that were to collectively constitute the AIIMS second campus in Jhajjar. These projects include a national cardiovascular centre, general purpose hospital, centre for blood disorder among others. Taking a dig at Deepender, state agriculture minister Dhankar, who is also the MLA of constituency where the hospital is situated, said it was the beauty of the BJP government that it was fulfilling the dreams of the residents of this state.

“Deepender ji saw a dream, and we fulfilled it. What could be better than this? Our government is working on this motive that we fulfil the dreams of every citizen of this state,” he said, amid hooting by Deepender’s supporters.

“Dreams were seen to make KMP expressway, SEZ as well.. but those were never completed by previous governments. We only worked on them after our government came in power,” he added.Deepender has previously ruined programmes for the BJP government by claiming credits for all the projects. At the inauguration of electrified rail project in Rohtak in 2017 by then rail minister Suresh Prabhu, Deepender had slammed the government for slowing down the development projects.
