NEWDELHI: Social networking firm Facebook has hired former journalist Natasha Jog as its election integrity officer for India, the company’s largest user market, according to a person familiar with the development.

Facebook did not offer a comment for this story.

India is a key market for Facebook with close to 300 million people using the platform every month.

In October 2018, Richard Allan, Vice President (policy solutions) at Facebook had said that the company was building a very strong team around election integrity to be able to protect elections from threats across the world. “...And that team is now developing a range of tools that we can use to protect elections and they’ll be certainly doing that for India,” said Allan during the HT Leadership Summit.
