Three killed after car, oil tanker collide in Muktsar

MUKTSAR : Three Faridkot residents were killed after the Chevrolet Cruze car they were travelling in collided with an oil tanker coming from the opposite side near Bhlaiana village, about 27km from district headquarte­rs in Gidderbaha sub division, on Wednesday. The victims are Manpreet Singh 20, Jashanpree­t Singh, 19, and Sukhwinder Singh, 20.

The three were travelling to Malout. The impact of the collision was so severe that the bodies could be extricated only with the help of a machine. Jashanpree­t and Sukhwinder Singh were killed on the spot, while Manpreet was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Kotbhai SHO Daljit Singh said, “The tanker driver, who remains unidentifi­ed as of now, has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving or driving on public way), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the IPC. He will be arrested soon.” HTC
