‘Took up Chandigarh’s cause in Lok Sabha’

-

What were the high points of your five-year term?

I’ve carried out 73 major development works in Chandigarh. The UT employees housing scheme was stuck for a decade before I got it approved from the Centre. The approval for need-based changes in houses of the Chandigarh Housing Board and in the industrial areas was given last month. Besides, the conversion of leasehold to freehold residential properties has been allowed.

One thing you wished to do as an MP, but couldn’t? Why?

I wanted to sort out the issue of the Dadumajra dumping ground. I’m still working on the city’s waste disposal system and hope it will be sorted out soon.

Would you like to contest again? Why should people re-elect you?

How was your experience in Parliament?

It was a wonderful experience as it offers the opportunity to apprise oneself of the issues and development works in the country through elected members. I got a chance to meet some of the most seasoned politicians and more important, in every session, I raised issues pertaining to Chandigarh.
