8-yr-old raped repeatedly in Mansa

MANSA:Close on the horror of the Ludhiana gangrape, a resident of Khiwa Kalan village, Kuldeep Singh, in his late 20s, has been booked for raping an 8-year-old student of Class 2 at her rented accommodat­ion in the city for around two years.

The girl’s mother is a divorcee and the accused and the family shared the rented accommodat­ion, sources said.

“The case has been registered under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sections 3, 4, 5 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused, after the local child committee verified the accusation. The medical examinatio­n report of the victim are pending. The accused is absconding,” said sub-inspector Amandeep, who is looking into the case.

SAMPLES COLLECTED FOR DNA MATCHING OF ACCUSED IN BATHINDA

BATHINDA: Blood samples of two rape accused and a child born to a rape victim were collected on Thursday for DNA sampling to ascertain who fathered the child. Blood samples of rape accused, revenue patwari Jagjit Singh, his private assistant Jagga Singh and the male boy, born on Monday, were collected at Bathinda civil hospital.

The samples will be sent to the Mohali-based forensic laboratory. The two accused had been arrested in January. The patwari’s wife, Sarabjit Kaur, had also been arrested for gangraping the woman, under section 376-D and 506 (criminal intimidati­on) of the IPC. HTC
