CANE FARMERS PROTEST OVER DELAY IN PAYMENTS

AMBALA:Sugarcane farmers held a protest outside the Naraingarh Sugar Mill on Thursday after the mill owners failed to release their payment on time.

As per the decision taken by the mill managemnet, state ministers, administration and the farmers’ leaders during a meeting held on January 3, the millers have to release ₹1.5 crore for farmers’ payment on the daily basis. However, the mill is falling behind ₹ 5 crore scheduled for release till date. Haryana BKU led by Gurnam Singh Charuni held the third panchayat outside the mill to discuss the issue. Earlier, two maha panchayats were also held outside the mill premises on January 2 and 24.
