Former MC employee booked in Ambala

AMBALA:Police on Friday booked former municipal corporatio­n (MC) employee, building inspector Surender Verma, in a case of missing building-plan files.

MC Joint commission­er Satinder Siwatch said that the accused had received 16 files related to building plans on November 23, 2012. But after that, those files went missing under mysterious circumstan­ces from the MC office in Ambala.

“It is requested to register a criminal case against the erring officials – Chargeshee­t in respect of Surender Verma, building inspector (now municipal engineer at MC Panchkula) under Rule 7 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment Appeal) Rules, 2016.” Siwatch added in his FIR.

Meanwhile, Ambala station house officer (SHO) inspector Ajit Singh said that they have registered a case against Surender Verma under section 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc.) of the Indian Penal code. “An enquiry report of the Vigilance Bureau is also enclosed with the complaint and the matter would be investigat­ed as per the facts,” he added.

The accused was also booked earlier by the State Vigilance Bureau under corruption charges in September 2018.
