Suspect moves SC, seeks transfer of trial

-

GURUGRAM: The lawyer of the suspect in the murder of the wife and son of an additional sessions judge on Friday sought to transfer the trial to Delhi.

Mahipal Singh, the security officer assigned to judge Krishan Kant, allegedly shot dead Kant’s wife and son near Sector 49’s Arcadia Market on October 13. Singh’s counsel, Prem Shankar Sharma, 55, said they have filed a petition in the Supreme Court to transfer the case to Delhi for “fair and natural justice”.

“The case should be transferred to Delhi as my client is innocent. Since the complainant is himself posted in the court here, there is a possibility of that he may try to influence the case,” he said.

The hearing on transfer petition is scheduled for Monday in the apex court.

Meanwhile, the court on Friday recorded the statement of four cops and two employees of a private hospital.

The police also produced five cartridges and the .38 bore revolver allegedly used by the suspect, in the court of district and sessions judge RK Sondhi.

The proceedings in the trial started on February 1, when seven witnesses had recorded their statements.
