THE EMPLOYMENT CRISIS IS MODI’S BIGGEST FAILURE

This refers to Karan Thapar’s ‘No clear picture on unemployment in India’ (Feb 10). Despite the government’s efforts to put up a brave front on the issue of unemployment, the fact remains that the job pie is shrinking. The problem is getting so much attention since Narendra Modi rode to power on the promise of jobs. People have now realised that this was an empty promise. The ‘Make in India’ initiative has failed to get off the ground and the manufacturing sector seems to be crumbling. This has led to the BJP going back to its tried and tested polarisation tactics.
