Cabinet okays filling of 153 posts in medical colleges
CHANDIGARH:The state cabinet led by chief minister Amarinder Singh on Sunday approved filling of 153 sanctioned direct quota posts of 42 professors, 46 associate professors and 65 assistant professors in government medical colleges at Amritsar and Patiala.
The vacancies will be filled by a selection committee headed by former PGI director KK Talwar. This will be done under the Punjab Medical Education (Group-A) Service Rules, after taking these posts out of the purview of Punjab Public Service Commission.
A spokesperson said the selection committee has been allowed to continue for another three years.
NOD TO BUDGET ESTIMATES
The cabinet also cleared the presentation of the budget estimates for 2019-20 in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday, along with various accounts and the audit reports of comptroller and auditor general (CAG). It cleared the presentation of CAG audit reports, finance accounts and appropriation accounts for the year ending March 31, 2018. It also gave approval to regularise the excess accumulated expenditure of the demands for grants in the appropriation accounts for the year 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 in the budget session.
CHEAPER TRANSPORT
The Punjab Food Grains Transportation Policy 2019-20 was also cleared for transportation of food grains from mandis to storage points at minimum rates through competitive bidding. For the ensuing season commencing from April 1, transportation of food grains beyond 8km will be allowed through online bidding.
5% QUOTA IN PLOTS TO TERROR, RIOT VICTIMS
The victim families of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and terrorism in Punjab will get 5% quota in plots and houses by urban estates, improvement trusts, Pepsu Township Development Board, without any financial concession for five more years. The CM considered the demand of the Danga Peerat Committee, Barnala and Sangrur.
AIR AMBULANCES FOR SERVING, EX-HC JUDGES
The Punjab cabinet gave clearance to air ambulance for the serving and retired judges Punjab and Haryana High Court, and their dependents. It was decided to amend Punjab Services (Medical Attendance) Rule, 1940, which covers Punjab government employees.
