HOSHIARPUR :Local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu announced a grant of ₹101 crore for water supply, sewerage and other infrastructure projects of the city at the zila parishad complex on Sunday.

Sidhu said the funds were arranged by the state government, who had added its share to the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme that had collapsed during the previous regime.

Sidhu said the government had battled odds to generate funds for the state’s development.

On the demand of the local MLA and industries minister Sunder Sham Arora, Sidhu announced high-tech fire-fighting vehicles for the corporation. He said a project worth ₹550 was in the pipeline to streamline and upgrade the fire-fighting system in Punjab.

Earlier, he announced a grant of ₹22 crore in Garhdiwala, where he asked the people to vote for the Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. “If you vote for the Congress, you will see unprecedented development in the coming time”, he said.

WILL WIN ALL 13 SEATS

Claiming that Congress will win all 13 seats in Punjab, he said, “We have as opposition, a party (SAD) that has ruined the state and AAP, which is in disarray. Congress will win the state with its development agenda.”
