JALANDHAR :A man and his friend were booked for strangulating his 29-year-old wife to death at their rented accommodation in New Raja Garden colony on Sunday.

The body of the victim Sunita alias Gudiya of Bihar was found by her mother Sanju Devi in the morning when she came to check on her since she was not taking her calls.

“When I reached my daughter’s home I found her room locked from the outside after breaking open the door I found Gudiya dead with a stole around her neck,” Sanju, said in her complaint.

Sanju suspected her son-inlaw Surinder, who is absconding, had murdered her. “I believe that Surinder and his friend Santosh killed my daughter because she failed to arrange ₹10,000, which the accused had demanded,” she said.

An official privy to the investigation, on condition of anonymity, said the police have questioned Santosh, who has denying his role in the murder.

A case was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
