-

DHARAMSHALA : Amid reports of Kashmiris being harassed and intimidated after Pulwama attack, a panchayat in Kangra district has passed a resolution banning entry of Kashmiri blanket sellers and traders in its jurisdiction without due permission.

Pathiyat Panchayat in Nagrota Bagwan sub-division of Kangra district passed the resolution in its monthly meeting held on Saturday. Panchyat pradhan could not be reached for comments but up-pradhan Vipin Kumar admitted that such resolution was passed. “The decision was taken in view of the sentiments of local people,” Kumar said. He said most of the Kashmiri traders do not register themselves with the police. “We have forwarded a copy of the resolution to the local police also,” said Kumar. “Any Kashmiri who would enter the panchayat without permission will be handed over to police,” he added.
