Bengal BJP leader held in daughter’s ‘abduction’ case

MIDNAPORE: Bengal Police arrested a BJP leader of Birbhum district three days after he alleged his daughter was abducted, following which a mob of his supporters chased down local Trinamool Congress MLA Manirul Islam on Saturday and forced the legislator to take shelter in a police station. “It was all staged. We rescued the girl from Dalkhola area in Malda district and have arrested her father, a BJP leader, and two of his associates,” said Tanmay Sarkar, additional superintendent of police, Birbhum.
