ROHTAK: The representatives of nearly a dozen khap bodies on Saturday said they will no more try to reconcile the warring Chautala family members, saying Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala behaved in an inappropriate manner and he must apologise for the same.

At a meeting at Jat Bhawan in Rohtak, Bhup Singh Dalal, president of Dalal Khap, which represents 84 villages of the Dalal clan, said Dushyant disrespected the khaps by accusing their representative Ramesh Dalal of meeting him alone and not coming with the khap bodies.

“Dushyant’s remark has disrespected us because the khap bodies had authorised Dalal to initiate a move to reconcile the Chautala family members. Today, we have decided to end this rapprochement move because Dushyant is not interested in uniting his family. We have written a letter to him seeking an apology from khaps within two days as he has raised serious question on Ramesh Dalal’s credibility,” he added.

Ramesh Dalal, president of Haryana Swabhiman Andolan, said, “We always wanted that Dushyant becomes a leader not only in Haryana but at the national level also. He is the first Haryana leader who raised questions on the khaps’ credibility and working. We had started the move so that the Chauatalas stay united and not for our benefit. We had even asked him to abide by the decision taken by panchayat of his native village Chautala but he turned down our plea. We are not doing any politics in this entire episode”, he added.

Dushyant said he and his family have respected the initiatives taken by khaps. “Our family is united but our paths are different in politics. I have not met khap representatives till now. Only Ramesh Dalal talked to me. If khaps think that our family is not united, they should choose a venue and I am ready to hold a meeting with them,” he said.

Addressing the media in Kurukshetra, INLD general secretary Abhay Chautala hit out at his elder brother Ajay Singh Chautala saying the latter is unable to take any decision on reconciliation in the family.
