20-yr-old shot dead in Sonepat, gang rivalry suspected

ROHTAK: A 20-year-old youth was shot dead at a service station in Chhatera village of Sonepat district on Monday evening, police said.

Anil Kumar, who belonged to Nahara village of Sonepat, was living with his family in Delhi for past many years.

He was preparing for competitiv­e exams at Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar.

After attending a cousin’s marriage at Narela in Delhi, Kumar, along with his mother, went to their native village Nahara.

16 BULLETS PUMPED INTO HIM

“After reaching the village, the victim went to a service station in Chhatera to get his car washed. A man wearing helmet came there and pumped 16 bullets into his body. The entire incident has been captured in CCTV,” said Kundli SHO Ravinder Singh.

“A case of murder has been registered against the unidentifi­ed accused and efforts are on to nab him,” he added. Police said the victim’s father, Jagbir, 53, was also shot dead in March by unidentifi­ed assailants in the same village. Police are suspecting it to be case of gang war wherein Raju Basodi, Akshay Palda and Pawan of Lawrence Bishoni gang were involved.

ONE ARRESTED FOR MURDER IN PANIPAT

KARNAL: A man, Leela Ram, was arrested for allegedly killing a 42-year-old labourer, Virbhan, in Raimal village of Panipat district.

Samalkha DSP Pradeep Kumar said the accused was booked for murder. Ram, along with four others, had allegedly attacked the victim with a sharpedged weapon on November 12 after a clash in their village.

The victim was admitted to a private hospital in Panipat, where he succumbed to injuries on November 24.
