BATALA: A day after DGP Punjab, Dinkar Gupta, constituted a twomember special investigative team (SIT) to crack the murder of Aakali leader, Dalbir Singh Dhilwan, former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majthia has questioned the selection of members of the SIT.

After attending the bhog ceremony of the deceased at Dhilwan village, Majithia said, “SSP Batala Opinderjeet Singh Ghuman, who was already being blamed by the family of the deceased for showing laxity in the case, has been appointed as member of the SIT.”

“SSP DID NOT MEET VICTIM’S DAUGHTER”

“On November 19, when Dalbir’s daughter Navneet Kaur went to SSP’s office to meet him, he refused to meet her on the ground that he was busy in a meeting with some minister. It’s shameful. SSP’s have time to please a Congress minister but don’t have a few minutes to listen to the grievance of a daughter whose father was murdered,” added Majithia.

Speaking on the issue of Congress MLA’s providing security cover to the Gandhi family, Majithia said Congress MLA’s should assure security of Punjabis who voted them to power. He was accompanied by former Rajya Sabha member Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Batala MLA Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal, and SAD leader Indejeet Singh Randhawa.

SSP SAYS “MET HER”

Denying Majithia’s allegations, SSP Ghuman said that on November 19, when Navneet Kaur came to his office, he was busy in a meeting in Chandigarh, after which he ordered SP (headquarter) to talk to her. The next day he met Navneet Kaur who was accompanied by SAD leader Ravi Singh Kahlon. “Police is not working under any pressure. We have certain leads about the accused and very soon they will be behind bars,” assured the SSP.
