GURUGRAM: A 14-year-old boy was apprehended on Thursday night for raping a two-and-a-half-yearold girl in a village in Tauru in Nuh. The boy, aged 14, has confessed to the crime, the police said.
According to the police, the girl knew the 14-year-old boy, a school dropout who lived in the same neighbourhood. As such, she did not raise an alarm when he abducted her from outside her house on Friday night. He took her to a nearby mustard field, where he allegedly raped her and left her bleeding profusely. She was rescued by the police and her parents around 11.30pm and was rushed to a hospital, where her condition was said to be stable.
Sangeeta Kalia, superintendent of police, Nuh, visited the toddler and assured her parents of help. The suspect, the police said, was apprehended within half an hour, after six teams rounded up and questioned more than 20 suspects. “More than 20 suspects were rounded up. The suspect from the neighbourhood was found to be missing. He was later apprehended. He confessed his crime to police. We have gathered the evidence necessary to corroborate his involvement,” said Kalia.
The suspect was thrashed by angry parents and relatives of the victim when he was apprehended from the spot.
In her complaint to the police, the mother of the minor girl, stated that suspect was born and brought up in the same locality and used to play with her children. An FIR was registered under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at Tauru police station on Thursday night.
“The suspect will undergo a few psychological tests to know if he has been involved in any other rape or molestation case. It is important to know the psychological state of the juvenile. The minor girl is already undergoing treatment. A medical examination has been conducted and her mother’s statement was recorded before a magistrate,” said Kalia.
