‘I will be forever indebted to all those who helped’

- Kavita Awaasthi

On May 31, TV actor Rajesh Kareer appealed for financial help via an emotional post on Facebook. The Begusarai actor had asked people to help him with any amount that they could spare, as he was jobless and in a financial crunch. “If I feel ashamed now, then life can become very difficult. I am in desperate need of help and my situation is quite critical,” he had said in the video post.

And to his surprise, people from all over the world came forward to help. Filled with gratitude, he says, “I have lost the count of people who have helped me, and I am overwhelmed with all the love. From Sunday to Thursday, I got around ₹12 lakh in my bank account from over 200 people. Life had brought me to a stage where I was begging, and the big-hearted people who came to my rescue are angels.”

Talking about people who helped him, Kareer shares,

“The largest sum I got was of ₹21,000 from a gentleman in China. He got emotional on the phone and said that he loved my performance in Begusarai. Shivangi Joshi, who played my daughter in the show, also sent ₹10,000 into my account. I will be forever indebted to all those who helped.”

The actor further adds that he wants to let everyone know that he has enough money now and will leave for Punjab in the next few days. “We will shift from here, and I will figure out how to make a living there. As I was living with my wife and son in Mumbai for the last 15-16 years, I will return to Mumbai when it calls me again,” Kareer signs off.
