Capt seeks apology from Union minister for ‘misleading’ House
CHANDIGARH Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday demanded an unconditional apology from Union minister of state for consumer affairs Raosaheb Patil Danve for misleading statement on the farm ordinances issue from the floor of the House in a clear and complete breach of parliamentary principles and propriety.
Rejecting as “incorrect” the central minister’s statement about Punjab being on board the anti-farmer ordinances, Amarinder said his remarks were aimed at defaming the Congress and its government in the state. “At no point did the high-powered committee make any suggestion about bringing these ordinances, which the Centre introduced on the sly and has now placed in Parliament for enactment through false pretensions,” the CM said in a statement. ‘SAD’s pro-farmer pretence exposed’ Amarinder said the presentation of the farm ordinances in Parliament by the Centre has exposed the farce of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s pretence of protecting the interests of the farmers of the state.
In a statement, he said the fact that SAD president Sukhbir Badal stayed away from the House when the ordinances were presented for legislation, showed that the entire drama of seeking postponement of their enactment was played out by him to appease the farmer organisations.
Jakhar questions Kejriwal’s silence on farm ordinances
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPSC) president Sunil Jakhar has accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of betraying the state by adopting double standards on the farm ordinances.
