ROHTAK : A Delhi Police constable allegedly hacked to death his parents before setting the house on fire in Matindu village in Sonepat on Sunday, said police. He then ended his life by consuming poison.

The accused cop was identified as Deepak and his parents as Ramdhan, 64, his wife Kitab Kaur, 60.

In his complaint to the police, Deepak’s elder brother Dinesh Kumar, who is an Inspector in the Delhi Police, said he received a phone call from his father who could only convey that the house was on fire. “I called up my sister to enquire about the incident. The neighbours also tried to douse off flames and found my father on a charpoy and my mother in the store. On the first floor of the house, they found my brother unconscious and froth was coming out of his mouth,” Dinesh said.

Kharkhuada SHO Bijender Singh said there were injury marks on the bodies of the elderly couple and they have recovered an axe from the room of Deepak.

“We also recovered a bottle of petrol from Deepak’s room. Prima facie, it appears that Deepak first attacked his parents with the axe, set the house on fire and then consumed poison. We have also recovered a packet of sulphas tablets from his room,” the SHO said.

“Deepak’s wife and their two sons were staying away from the family since June last year due to some family dispute. Investigations are on,” he said.
