LUCKNOW / LAKHIMPUR KHERI:

Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra Teni, was sent to 14-days judicial custody and placed under Covid-19 quarantine in the district jail, officials said Sunday.

Ashish Mishra was produced before a local court late on Saturday night after nearly 12 hours of questioning for his alleged role in the October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which eight people, including four farmers and a journalist were killed.

Two BJP workers and their driver were allegedly lynched by angry farmers.

A medical team examined Ashish Mishra at the crime branch office after which he was produced before a judicial magistrate, who sent him to 14-day judicial custody, a senior officer said. A police officer privy to the investigation said the nine-member team headed by DIG Upendra Agarwal tried to establish the sequence of events based on the CCTV feed.
