Farmers right in protesting to keep up pressure on govt
Last week, a Supreme Court bench asked farmers protesting against the Centre’s three farm laws what their protest was against
when the contentious legislation has already been stayed. Protesting on the roads is the last resort of any aggrieved party after having struggled with all other avenues of resolution. The farmers have the right to a peaceful protest. Their concerns are genuine and if they stop protesting, they fear the pressure on the government will dissipate. The court has only stayed the matter and the Centre has shown no intention of repealing the farm laws.
