SIX DAYS ON, OWNER OF PVT SCHOOL NABBED

ROHTAK: On the run for six days, GL Public School owner Rajendra Lodha landed in the Haryana police net on Wednesday.

Lodha had been evading arrest since April 11 when a bus owned by the school met with an accident near Unhani village, leaving six students dead and 19 injured.

The bus driver was allegedly drunk at the time and speeding at 120 kmph, leading to the accident. It was further found that the school bus did not have a valid fitness certificat­e.

ROHTAK: Absconding for six days, GL Public School owner Rajendra Lodha finally landed in the Haryana police net on Wednesday.

Lodha had been evading arrest since April 11, the day a bus carrying 37 students of his school met with an accident near Unhani village, leaving six students dead and 19 injured.

The bus driver was allegedly drunk at the time and speeding at 120 kmph, leading to the accident. It was further found that the school bus did not have a valid fitness certificat­e.

Lodha was arrested from Bawa village in Rewari. His son continues to remain on the run.

Kanina deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Mahender Singh said that teams had been raiding multiple spots since last week to track him down.

Principal, secretary sent to judicial custody till April 26

Meanwhile, the police produced school principal Deepti Rao and secretary Hoshiyar Singh before a local court on Wednesday, which sent them to judicial custody till April 26.

The duo, along with bus driver, Dharmender, were arrested on April 11 and taken into five-day police remand.

Kanina DSP Mahender Singh said efforts are on to nab the school director Subhash Yadav.

“We have arrested eight persons so far, including four persons who had consumed alcohol with the bus driver nearly an hour before the incident. The principal and secretary were sent to judicial custody till April 26,” the DSP added.
