Three policemen dismissed on graft charge in Amritsar
AMRITSAR: Three police officials posted in the city were dismissed by Amritsar police commissioner Ram Singh on Saturday on charge of not taking action against a hotel owner in a case pertaining to immoral trafficking.
There were also allegations that the officials dismissed on corruption charge, ASI Gurvinder Singh, head constable Kulwant Singh and constable Meher Singh, had planted a couple in the hotel, after which they conducted a raid and demanded money for

not initiating action against the hotel owner.
Police have obtained the CCTV footage of the entire episode, it was learnt. The trio was booked under Sections 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on the complaint of hotel owner Prabhjot Singh.
While Gurvinder Singh and Kulwant Singh were posted with the CIA Staff, Meher Singh was posted at Sultanwind police station.
“There are charges against the three accused that they planted a couple in the hotel, conducted a raid and then demanded money from the owner for not taking action. The charges are being looked into by the ACP (crime),” said the police commissioner.
He added that the police had invoked Article 311 of the Indian Constitution.
Ram Singh said that inquiries were also on to verify allegations of illegal activities at the hotel.
