STUTTGART: Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands earned themselves a shot at their third title of the season by reaching the final of the WTA Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The unseeded pair beat Angelique Kerber and Andrea Petkovic 6-4, 7-5. They face Sabine Lisicki and Mona Barthel in the final.

DIVIJ, PURAV QUALIFY

JOHANNESBU­RG: Divij Sharan and Purav Raja qualified for the men's singles main draw of the ATP Soweto Open. Divij beat Ruben Alberts 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 and Raja beat Phillip De Bruyn 6-1, 7-5. Divij will face third seed Vasek Pospisil in the first round and Raja will be up against Jean Anderson.

ATWAL SLIPS IN RD 3

VALDOSTA (GEORGIA): Arjun Atwal dropped four bogeys and a triple bogey to card a six-over and slip dramatical­ly on the leaderboar­d in the third round of the South Georgia Classic. Will Wilcox fired a course-record 63 and moved into a nearly insurmount­able seven-shot lead after 54 holes.

SSP FINISHES 11TH

ICHEON: SSP Chowrasia carded a final round of 68 to finish tied 11th at the Ballantine’s Championsh­ip. Jyoti Randhawa finished tied 17th and Shiv Kapur was tied 31st. Aussie Brett Rumford prevailed in a three-way play-off with compatriot Marcus Fraser and Scotland’s Peter Whiteford to win.

BAI FALLS IN LINE

NEW DELHI: The Badminton Associatio­n of India (BAI) amended its constituti­on to align itself in accordance with the government's sports code by fixing the age and tenure limitation of its office bearers. The age limit of its office bearers will be 70 years. The tenure of a BAI president has been fixed to a maximum of three term of four years each while the secretary general and treasurer can hold their positions for a maximum of two terms.
