BATTERED GIRL REFUSES TO ACCOMPANY DAD
LUDHIANA: Traumatised by the alleged physical abuse at the hands of Tensildar Jaspal Kaur and her daughter Jyoti, Komal, 9, has refused to accompany even her father, Dulla Singh, to her own house.
LUDHIANA: Traumatised due to alleged physical abuse at the hands of tehsildar Jaspal Kaur and her daughter Jyoti, nineyear- old Komal has refused to accompany even her father Dulla Singh to her own house.
Dulla Singh, who had visited Ludhiana twice to take her home, claimed that Komal was behaving in such a manner since the accused woman official and her daughter had brainwashed her.
Meanwhile, after area residents along with Suresh Kalia, member of Protection of Child Rights Commission, Punjab, contacted deputy commissioner Rahul Tewari on Monday, he directed that the girl be sent to Nari Niketan in Jalandhar.
Tewari assured the delega- tion about stern action against the accused tehsildar.
Area residents later handed over Komal to the officials of the Nari Niketan. The girl had remained in the care of Dashmesh Nagar Welfare Society members for the past three days.
Later, the area people met police commissioner Ishwar Singh to demand the arrest of the accused.
He directed police station concerned to take appropriate action in the matter. The area people claimed that the tehsildar and her daughter were roaming freely in the city even after registration of the case against them.
Shimlapuri police had booked tehsildar Jaspal Kaur and her daughter Jyoti under Section 11 of Prevention of Child Labour Regulation Act, 1986, and Section 342, 506 and 323 of the IPC on the complaint of Dulla Singh on April 25.
TEHSILDAR, DAUGHTER GET ANTICIPATORY BAIL
Tehsildar Jaspal Kaur and her daughter Jyoti have got anticipatory bail from a local court on Monday.
Meanwhile, they did not respond to the police summons to join the police investigation on Monday.
Additional deputy commissioner of police ( city- II) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that the police summoned the tehsildar and her daughter but they did not come. Police would again summon them on Tuesday to join the investigation, he added.
