ROHTAK: A flying squad of Maharshi Dayanand University ( MDU) has caught a student impersonating son of a Congress MLA during BTech examination in Jhajjar.

Sukhbir Kumar had appeared in place of Harsh, younger son of Naresh Sharma - MLA from Badli assembly constituency of Jhajjar district.

Harsh is a student of fourth semester of BTech at a private engineering college in Fatehpuri village of the district.

As per details, a flying squad led by Ombir Singh, director of physical education, raided the CBS Group of Institutions, the examination centre, on June 14 to check the use of unfair means.

The team noticed Sukhbir making suspicious movements in the examination hall. Upon being probed, it transpired that he had appeared in place of another student, who happened to be the son of the local Congress MLA.

When HT contacted the director of the CBS Group of Institutions on his mobile, he agreed to registering an impersonation case against Harsh, but refused to identify him as the son of the local MLA.

Centre superintendent Tarun Kumar, on duty at the time of the incident, recommended registration of an FIR against Sukhbir and Harsh for forgery, after registering an impersonation case against the duo.

Surprisingly, even after a fortnight, the MDU authorities have not sent any communication regarding the registration of an FIR against the duo.

The Jhajjar sadar police said that they were yet to receive any such compliant.
