RAHUL TOUCH TO CONG CAMPAIGN

-

NEW DELHI: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has directed the party workers in Delhi to better connect with the people.

Congress secretary and in- charge of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), Kuljit Singh Nagra, said they have been directed by Rahul to conduct surprise checks to ensure the scheduled public meetings take place.

“Rahulji has directed us to serve as a bridge between the workers and the organisation. We will work as a watchdog and conduct surprise checks to see if the scheduled meetings at the district or block-level are being conducted or not,” said Nagra.

In a meeting held at the DPCC office on Thursday, All India Congress Committee ( AICC) general secretary Shakeel Ahmad and Nagra maintained that performance of all the workers will be measured, be it the municipal councillors, MLAs or district and block-level office bearers.

Terming assembly elections in Delhi crucial, Nagra said it’s a do-or-die situation for them and all the work done by the party, government and the organisation needs to be publicised and people need to be made aware about the achievements.

Delhi CM SheilaDikshit had also termed the assembly polls as a prelude to the general elections in 2014. “If we win in Delhi, we get the confidence of winning the general elections,” she had said.
