NAGAUR: There is no let- up in the RSS demand for stern action against those who raised “anti- national” slogans in the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.

After asking the government to take strict action against the perpetrators , the RSS has underscored that the issue should not be politicised as it poses a grave challenge to the unity and integrity of the country.

On Sunday, RSS general secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi said, “It is a matter of concern for all patriots that homage is being paid to those who attacked Parliament… what can we call that mentality? Those who led the ones who raised slogans calling for the disintegration of India, what should we call them?”

He said no political party can afford to allow such anti-India statements and sentiments to percolate. “Whichever party comes to power tomorrow, will they compromise on Kashmir, will they change our perception about our neighbouring counties…this is an issue is about the country’s safety,” he said.

While there has been uproar over the government action against students in JNU, Joshi said the law would take its own course, but questions must be asked about who allowed this atmosphere to nurture. “If such universities become the anti-India centres, then intellectuals should worry. This is not a political issue,” he said.

The RSS has been critical of both the Congress and Left parties extending support to the students in JNU who slammed the government for impeaching on the right to free speech and for slapping sedition charges against some students.
