Politics of Jat stir witnessed during obituary resolutions

-

CHANDIGARH: Politics was at play even during the obituary resolutions on the opening day of the budget session of Haryana assembly on Monday with some INLD MLAs objecting to the resolution mentioning those innocent persons who lost their lives during the Jat quota violence.

INLD MLA Jaswinder Singh Sandhu, who entered into an argument over this with the BJP benches, said that first it should be ascertained who were innocent.

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that only an inquiry can reveal who were innocent or not. “How can we differentiate between the two without a probe. Anyway, the resolution is aimed at expressing deep sense of sorrow on the sad and untimely demise of innocent persons?”

Finance minister Ca pt Abhimanyu said “Aap lashaon par rajneeti karna chahte hain (You want to play politics on the corpses).”

Earlier, Khattar, assembly speaker Kanwar Pal, Sandhu, HJC MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi and Independent MLA Jai Parkash paid tributes to the departed souls. The members also observed a twominute silence to pay homage to the departed souls.

Those who were paid homage included former Lok Sabha speakersBalram Jakhar and PA Sangma, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Punjab and Haryana high court judge Justice NK Sanghi, former chief parliamentary secretary Roshan Lal Tiwari.

Tributes were also paid to seven freedom fighters belonging to the state , who died after the last session.
